Class Descriptions - all classes are 45 minutes unless otherwise noted!

MIND BODY (55 min)

Body Stretch

Just what the body needs. Lengthen, relax and loosen all of your muscles, both upper and lower body, and regain the flexibility you need. Stretching is critical for injury prevention, posture and overall health and well-being.

Fighting Arts/ Self Defense (90 minutes)

Fighting Arts consists of some of the most efficient and effective concepts, theories and training methods from a wide variety of martial arts diciplines. The class curriculum contains elements from Western Boxing, Muay Thai, Modern Arnis, Filipino Martial Arts and Modified Wing Chun. Rather than memorization of techniques, the main focus is on attribute development. Attributes like rythym, timing, speed, power, targeting, spatial relationship, to name a few, are all strengthened. Training in this way allows for the emphasis to be placed on recognizing where motions of these systems overlap, thus allowing a continuous flow from art to art. More importantly though, because everyone is different, Fighting Arts promotes an
understanding of individual personality and style so you develop YOUR OWN ART.

Fusion ®, designed by Helen Vanderburg, is the perfect compilation of Yoga, Pilates and Core Strength exercise. Come and try the "class of the future."

Pilates – Intermediate

Grow with Pilates...literally! Improve your strength, flexibility, posture and alignment by strengthening your abdominals, back, "glutes" and legs. There are a number of different levels to suit everyone’s needs. This workout promotes functional fitness – the ability to improve in other sports through improved core strength. Class is intended for participants with Pilates experience

Pilates Plus

An exciting beginner class incorporating Pilates exercises with a little bit more omph!— The class includes fit balls, resist-a-bands, foam rollers, small balls and Pilates circles to help you learn to properly activate your core! Experience a different piece of equipment every 6 week session. Class is intended for participants with little or no Pilates experience

Power Vinyasa Yoga

Moving from one pose to another creating an  energizing vinyasa flow series.  Building strength, flexibility while toning the full body with breath work, alignment and modifications. Yoga experience an asset. Yoga mat REQUIRED

Stretch & Strengthen

Gain Strength & Flexibility in one class.  This class will introduce Pilates based movements that will strengthen, lengthen, relax & loosen all of your muscles , both upper and lower body, and help regain the functionl strength & flexibility you need in day to day life. Most movements will incorporate the resist-a-band

Intermediate Yoga - TRADITIONAL YOGA

A class based on an ancient form of movement that promotes balance, flexibility, strength and relaxation through various postures and breathing techniques. A class that not only emphasizes but also improves your overall sense of well being. Basic yoga experience required please

YoPi Power

This powerful exhilarated mixed practice of flow yoga and pilates will condition you on many levels;

increase flexibility, strength, stamina, core and purifying breath. Class is intended for participants with

some yoga & pilates experience .

 

EXPRESSIVE DANCE (60 min)

Hip Hop

Hip Hop is a form of non partner dancing to comtemporary music which emphasizes  body movement and rhythm.  This hip hop class goes slower and contains less choreograhy to help you learn the routine at an easy to follow pace.  Raise your 'FUNK-O-METER' by giving this class a try today!  No experience needed

TRADITIONAL AEROBICS

Cardio Ball Blast

Intensity is key to pushing your cardio to the next level & getting the results you want. This class combines the best of Hi/Lo with a Fit Ball & Step performed on a BOSU Ball intertwined with challenging multi level power intervals designed to push you pass your aerobic limit. Emphasis is on simple choreography that will allow you to focus on intensity & technique.  *Experience is recommended because of the balance work done on the BOSU & Fit Ball

CS Power 

Intensity is key to pushing your cardio to the next level & getting the results you want. This class combines the best of Hi/Lo & Step intertwined with challenging multi level power intervals designed to push you pass your aerobic limit. Emphasis is on simple choreography that will allow you to focus on intensity & technique

Step Pump

A step class designed to optimize fat burning and strength training at the same time. You will perform step and weight intervals at a slower pace in order to maximize your balance, movement efficiency and muscular endurance. Floor work and stretching are also incorporated.

 

CIRCUIT & STRENGTH

Ball Blast 

This strength-based class involves a challenging fitball workout that focuses on core, overall strength & balance while working with weights, tubing & heavy bars. This class is a structured program that changes every 6 weeks to develop functional strength & endurance

Boxing Circuit

Utilize all of the skills that make boxers so fit! Foot work, skipping, punching and ab work will work your heart and your muscles. With no choreography, and an emphasis on proper technique, you will challenge your upper and lower body. All levels welcome.

Cardio Explosion 

This cardio class has it all! Simple Step & Hi/Lo Choreography with intense intervals that remind you of your middle school Phys Ed class. Class also includes speed ladder work, pylons, sport specific drills & finishes with resistance training.

Cardio Circuit

This class will give you that extra cardio oomph you need in your routine.  The class is lead by an instructor who you will make you alternate between the treadmills, steppers, crosstrainer, bicyles & other cardio modalities.  The class will take your cardio to a whole new level.  All levels

Express Series

Achieve an intense workout that challenges either cardio, resistance & your core in JUST 20 minutes. Simple & straight to the point!  Classes offered: Core Express which focuses JUST on the core, Resistance Express which is a core based resistance workout.  Each week a different body part will be focused on, Cardio Express is a core based cardio workout that will include simple intervals to get your heart rate up & you sweating!

Outdoor Cardio Explosion

This outdoor cardio class has it all! This class is a structured program that will progress over 6 weeks. It will challenge beginner & advance exercisers alike.  The class will include walking & running drills with intense cardio intervals that include speed work & sport specific drills.  Complete your workout with resistance training & core exercises.

PT45 Circuit

45 minutes of ‘personal training’ in an action-packed group environment. In the tradition of the interval circuit training, participants move from one innovative exercise to the next, alternating resistance training with cardio, for a full body workout without the choreography! This class is held in the weight room.

Total Strength 

Using heavy bars, dumbbells & tubing you will be paced through an all-over-body workout to push all fitness levels. This class is a structured program that changes every 6 weeks to develop functional strength. You will see results!

CRANK'D - NEW! (55min)

CRANK'D

CRANK'D is our signature indoor cycling class specifically designed to challenge your fitness level.  Everyone can participate in the multi-level workout that focuses on cardiovascular training and strong cycling skills.

Turn & Burn

A CRANK'D cycling circuit with weight training intervals, offering an intense workout for all fitness levels

 

THEME CLASSES:

Cheerleader Workout

5,6,7,8….What could be more fun than cheering while working out! This unique & fun session will teach you traditional sidelines, exciting cheers, a half time show & finally finish the session with a cheerleader core challenger workout. Evolution

Pull out those leg warmers because this classe will take you from the ultimate beginnings of 'aerobics' when it was cool to do 'jazz hands' & finish into the evolution of group exercise. 

Groove

Do you think your workouts are lacking a little oomph! Well put some GROOVE back into your workouts! Groove is the fusion of hip-hop, disco & latino in a hi/lo based class – its way to much fun to pass up & you may not be able to stop your hips from moving!

HOHOHO Strippersize

You better be nice cuz Santa's watching!  Fountain Park's original strippersize ho's are going to take you through a fabulous diva driven christmas inpired workout. 

ICE Melt Down (90 Minutes)

Indoor cycling using specialty studio bikes. This workout will slowly bring you to your anaerobic threshold (85% of maximum heart rate) and keep you begging for more.

Pilates Circuit

Add a dimension to your traditional Pilates Mat workout with props like circles, BOSU balls & tubing. Take the challenge of a traditional circuit class & add it to a mind body element like Pilates & you’ve got Pilates Circuit! Exercises like the hundred & side leg lift will instantly become more intense on equipment like the BOSU ball. Beware, you will feel it the next day!

Stampede Strippersize

The most fun you can have with your boots on!  Strippersize is Calgary's hottest fitness trend so do it while 2 stepping to your favorite country tunes

Strip-a-lates

Is a Stripper-size infused Pilates class that will help improve your flexibility, posture and alignment by strengthening your abdominals, back, ‘glutes’ and legs. This class will review & apply Pilates fundamentals & take participants through a ‘diva driven’ workout.
